At Multiplica , we empower micro and small enterprises (SMEs) in Portuguese-speaking countries by facilitating access to financing, financial literacy training and technical assistance. As an NGO , we act as a strategic bridge between SMEs and capital providers, promoting sustainable growth and positive impact in local communities.
Our goal is clear: to strengthen local economies, create jobs, and contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
WHY MULTIPLY
SMEs are a multiplier of a country's development: they create wealth, generate employment opportunities, and transform the communities where they operate.
THE PROBLEM
Over 50% of businesses in São Tomé and Príncipe are micro and small enterprises. (Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe, 2020)
But only 7% of SMEs have access to loans. (International Labour Organization, 2020)
And 82% of SMEs do not have a bank account and face credit barriers due to the requirements of the financial system. (World Bank, 2021)
Without financing, micro and small enterprises in São Tomé and Príncipe cannot grow, strengthen the economy, or generate real impact.
Multiplica aims to promote the sustainable growth of these businesses and the communities where they operate through the implementation of an integrated approach designed to achieve the following objectives:
Equip businesses to understand the different financing options available, such as grants, loans, and investments.
Guide businesses through financing eligibility and application, providing technical support in preparing the required documentation.
Support businesses in assessing the maturity level of their operations and in selecting the most appropriate financing opportunity.
Monitor the implementation of financing, ensuring efficient use of resources and assessing the financial impact on the business.
Connect local entrepreneurs with national and international financing opportunities.
Monitor the social and environmental impact of business activities.
